The Allihopa ladies team would come out Saturday against two teams highly talented and with solid convictions to make it farther than our ladies felt possible... So, though we would put up some points, Allhopa would drop their first two games to both Notre Dame 6-17 and Chicago 9-17.This put our ladies into Bracket play as the B3 against the A2. The A2 ended up being Ohio, a team who was seeded above our girls and should have taken it to them. But, this would not take place. The first half would be a battle in which our girls would got down 4-7 before taking half 8-7. The second half would trade points in what continued to be a heated sequence of Ohio hucking it downwind, whether there was an Ohio player or not streaking deep. Their entire offense relied on downwind scores by turning it over deep in our territory and then setting up the 4 person cup. Our ladies thrived on this, and though we would give up a few easy points by turning the disc over right away, most of the time we would get the disc through their cup and move it up field and up wind.
The game would still be close at 13-11 us, but another break up wind forced Ohio to move the disc up wind to simply stay in the game. The wouldn't be able to and another turn over would take place. Allhopa would move the disc down wind with ease and an outside in flick from Kelly Marshall would go to a streaking Robin Freed for the final score and 15-11 victory. Our ladies would pack their bags and call Regionals over, despite the ability to move on to play Ohio State at 9am the following morning. With only two games guaranteed, and sore legs, it was decided to say goodbye to the 2008 season.
Michigan would play Illinois in the finals and take it to Illinois 15-3. Illinois would then have to play one more for the back-door game and lost to Michigan State (score unknown). North Park has never beaten either Michigan or Illinois or Michigan State (lost 4-10 and 8-13), but these are teams that we could hang with. And come next season, they better watch out, cause there is some ridiculous talent on this Allihopa team.

ROBIN! We will miss you! I'm glad we could help you kill the last game and go out on top (you were amazing). It has been a pleasure. Everyone else: let's get pumped for next year. Practice hard.
I cannot believe the stupidity of the North Park women's ultimate team. Your women were handed a HUUUUGE opportunity to continue in Sunday bracket play despite losing so hard on Saturday. And, yet, you left!!?!?
Why would you ever leave regionals Saturday night despite being handed a back door opportunity to nationals on Sunday!? This is an incredible mistake to be placed on the backs of the leadership of the women's team... despite the men's team doing poorly, you could have at least played your first Sunday game against shitty OSU!
What a waste for the Ohio University team to be denied such a great opportunity in bracket play just for you to take it for granted and leave on Saturday. Shame on you for leaving and congratulations to mediocre Michigan St. on getting the second bid to nationals.
It seems like any team that wants to better their reputation in the ultimate community would at least try to play on Sunday, if not to go to nationals, then perhaps to better their reputation for terrible spirit and calls.
dena,
thanks for the indiana view on our team's decision. annoying, aggressive and as rude as it was, you make a point. it does seem ridiciclous from an outside perspective that we would leave while still in the running for a 2nd bid. however, your comment and opinion is still very unappreciated.
simply, what you must realize is are you not apart of this team. what went into that decision doesn't concern you and also doesn't deserve to be questioned or attacked or judged by you and your team.
in the future, we'd appreciate for the talking to stay on the field, during the next time we meet in the fall hopefully. can't wait.
sincerely,
the red head you dislike very much and a captain of allihopa
